This workshop on understanding Armenian identity politics and its representations is meant to establish a basis for communication and exchange with local scholars. While discussing the main concepts and approaches of a recently launched research project at the Humboldt University it aims at giving an opportunity to local partners and specialists to present their works. We would like to raise questions about how national identity is represented in Armenia before and after independence on different levels of politics and everyday life, how different actors and institutions were and are involved in the shaping of the national landscape around the main cultural symbols such as memory of genocide, religion and diaspora.
